5 Things

From Gideon Barker, founder of Customer IQ

Hi reader

A very happy new year to you!

I hope you are well rested and reinvigorated for the new year. And what a year it might be! I await it with equal dollops of trepidation and excitement.

My word of the year is HELP. Thanks to my good friend for asking me this question (I think it's a good question to ask).

2025 is going to be about helping as many founders and scaling businesses as I can. But, for me, the word help is also reference to me asking for help when I really need it. I am notoriously bad at asking for help so this is going to be both positive and challenging.

Your selection of things for this week:

Ads made by AI are annoying and confusing

That's the take out from this article which looks at how people react to ads made by AI. Research was carried out by Nielsen IQ who used surveys as well as eye-tracking and implicit response time. An interesting read.

Raise your pitch deck

Analysis of 7,000 pitch decks by Episode 1 (investment firm) reveals some interesting points around how you might optimise your pitch deck to secure investment. Worth taking a look if you're currently looking to raise funding.

Can ChatGPT replace customer interviews?

An interesting post from Matt Lerner about his experience of carrying out customer discovery using ChatGPT. I won't spoil the ending for you.

How much does research cost?

My blog post on how the cost of research breaks down and, therefore, how you might go about getting more bang for your bucks.

Help me by answering these 2 questions

Fascinated and excited as I am by the opportunities that AI presents, I am also mindful of how my clients and potential clients feel about me using AI tools for their research. So can you help me out by answering these 2 questions?

Thanks for reading!
