Things

From Gideon Barker, founder of Customer IQ. View the newsletter archive.

Hi reader

Oh my goodness. What are the chances of my newsletter day coinciding with Valentine’s Day?

Lucky for you (?!), I’m opting to go all in for the ‘Valentine’s Special’ with 5 pieces of content of my very own that I really would like to gift to you 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁

(Please don’t unsubscribe, please don’t unsubscribe - things will be back to normal next week and I promise you’ll find something interesting which isn’t from me).

So, your selection of things for this week:

Bringing Certainty to the Chaos (webinar)

Hot off the press! This webinar was delivered live at midday today and you will be among the first to get to watch the recording (I know, this is big right?). Includes my takes on how customer discovery can help startup and young, scaling brands.

Don’t tell my kids I did this

Someone pointed out to me recently how many of us will experience some cringe when our kids grow up, get jobs and join LinkedIn. I wonder what they’ll think of my Dragons’ Den video? I’m sorry, but when Steven Bartlett started mentioning ‘research’ I did get a little over excited and had to make this.

Alcohol Free as F*ck

Sharing this because it might resonate with some of you out there. I am 3 years into living an alcohol-free life and - a bit fed up of feeling apologetic about it - I decided to create a blog more in celebration. I also do a talk on this subject if anyone would like to hear it?

90% of startups do not fail

True fact. This might be one of the most frequently shared stats in the startup world. But it’s just not true. We don’t actually know the true figure, depends on your definition of ‘startup’. But, imho, we need to stop sharing this because it’s just not helpful.

How do I find the best research supplier for me?

Because, y’know it might not actually be Customer IQ. Depends on all manner of things including budget, specialist needs, size, expectations. I’ve put together some thoughts on the topic in this blog.

Thanks for reading!
